Concert at Saint Genevieve's

 In honor of Black History Month, SoundStage Director Geoff Hansplant will present a concert of blues standards at Saint Geneveieve's Parochial School in Flourtown, an educational program for the school's entire student body.  Drawing heavily from his own roots in the blues of the early twentieth century, Geoff will provide examples of the blues' roots in gospel traditions as well as the more familiar secular standards which were evocative of the day to day life of African Americans in the early part of the last century.

Led by Geoff Hansplant

   Geoff Hansplant is co-Director of the SoundStage School of Music and has been a guitarist and songwriter for the past 35 years.  His specialty is the Piedmont style of Acoustic Fingerstyle Blues Guitar, featuring driving grooves and flashy melodic runs combined with thought provoking (and occasionally daffy) lyrics.  Playing live, he grenerally mixes old blues standards, songs from his current album, "Pilgrim's Progress," and selections from his forthcoming album, "Kick Off Your Muddy Boots."

 In February, we return to Cathedral Village for our annual Valentine's Day concert.  This is a wonderful space, in the Cathredral with its great acoustics and beautiful grand piano.  We always have a good turn-out for this show and there is not a bad seat oin the house.

  Students should register early for our Fall Concert by conferring with their teachers and using our Concert Sign-up Book, usually found near the copier in the main hall.  Preregistration is required so that we can make plans for schlepping equipment as necessary!
