WHAT DO YOU LEARN IN YOUR MUSIC LESSONS?
That question is often asked by prospective students. Our teachers make it a priority to get to know you on a personal level and to become familiar with your personal musical needs and goals.
A seven year old having his or her first guitar lesson will have very different needs than a fifty seven year old taking up piano for the 2nd time after having had lessons as a child.
The main reason to choose The SoundStage School of Music as your music lesson provider, is that we are sensitive to the fact that every student is an individual.
If you enroll here for lessons, we will work with you to make a plan that will fit your needs and musical preferences. At the first lesson your teacher will ask you about your favorite type of music, and set goals to help accomplish whatever musical aspirations you have for yourself or your child.
We teach all styles including: rock, pop, folk, jazz, country, blues and classical.
Our teachers have received their education from prestigious institutions such as Berklee College of Music, The University of the Arts in Philadelphia, Susquehanna University, William & Mary, Slippery Rock, Columbus State University in Georgia, Temple University, The Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester (UK), Indiana University, Penn State and the The Conservatorium van Amsterdam in Holland . Many of our instructors have gone on performance tours of the US and Europe and have over 20 years of professional performance and teaching experience. In addition to their teaching credentials, our teachers have warm personalities, are extremely friendly and strive to get to know each student and their parents on a personal level.
The Instruments
GUITAR & BASS LESSONS
(for ages 5 and up)
Our guitar teachers teach rock, blues, folk, jazz, country and classical guitar lessons on electric and acoustic guitars and electric and upright bass. Beginner students can expect to work on chords, simple songs and melodies, sight reading and theory. We balance musicianship and fun by making sure that each lesson you are challenged with a new technical or theory concept, but always end with something fun such as your favorite riff or song. We use a variety of guitar method books to accomplish this and encourage students to bring CDs or their iPod to their lesson to learn their favorite tunes.
PIANO LESSONS
(for ages 4 and up)
Our piano teachers teach a variety of styles from classical to popular music. Whether you want to learn Bach or Alicia Keys, our teachers are happy to help you become the pianist you want to be. Our piano faculty will show you the fundamentals of sight reading, technique and theory, but they will also incorporate your favorite songs into your lessons. You do not have to have a piano at home to take lessons. A simple full size electronic keyboard will suffice for the first 6 months. Our piano teachers have warm personalities and enjoy sharing their love for the piano with you.
VOICE LESSONS
(for ages 7 and up)
Our voice teachers teach a range of styles including popular music, jazz, musical theater and opera. If you have always wanted to be a better singer, we have the right voice teachers for you. Voice students spend time each week doing physical exercises to improve their vocal range, ear training, breath control, vibrato, tone production, enunciation and more. All voice students set goals with their teacher to work on sounding like their favorite recording artists, or if they prefer, to develop their own unique voice. Do you want to land the lead role in the school musical production? This is the place to start.
DRUM LESSONS
(for ages 6 and up)
Our drum instructors teach rock, jazz, funk, blues and many other styles. Drum students will develop a rhythmic fluency through a wide variety of technical exercises designed to improve your speed and comfort. Our drum room features two complete kits so student and teacher work side by side throughout the lesson. You do not have to purchase a drum kit to take lessons. Beginning students can learn with a drum pad and sticks for only $25.00. Students use our drum set at their lessons and do not have to bring anything except their drum sticks and a notebook
STRINGS (for ages 4 and up)
Our award winning string teachers develop students in styles ranging from classical to Irish Folk music and modern jazz. For our younger students, violin is always a great place to start as it fits young hands and introduces students to note reading and elements of music theory, essentials to any instrument a student would want to play later. Be it violin, viola, cello or upright bass (jazz and orchestral), we teach them all.
BAND INSTRUMENTS (for ages 7 and up)
Our band instrument teachers offer instruction in every instrument in the school jazz band and orchestra, every horn, reed and wind instrument. We teach in styles ranging from classical to brass band to modern jazz and offer students the one on one instruction that cannot be had in the public or parochial school systems. As with all of our instruction, band instrument students can be assured of developing their sight reading skills and music theory. Our band instrument students are the kids destined for first chair in the school jazz band and orchestra.

$29.50 per 30 minute private lesson held once a week. Recommended for teens and adults.
There is a one time registration fee of $25.00
Lessons are available:
Monday through Thursday 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m..
Saturdays 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
